Pounding the Pavement

Today I’m vlogging about leaving my comfort zone (and *gasp* the safety of my writing space) on my journey towards becoming a published author.

  1. I’m sitting in my comfort zone and whooping it up for you! Congratulations…on your books and stepping out!

Thank you! It’s hard to believe what Sandy did to the city just a few days later! Here’s hoping all are safe and things dry out soon.

  2. Laurie, that was epic! I love all the tips, and how you timed the vlog with the train going past your window, and how when you make the jump from your office to the Manhattan street it gets SO much noisier. 🙂 The pictures with your dad are adorable, too. Glad to hear that the bookstore folks were all nice to you.

I’m curious–did your publisher encourage you to make the rounds to stores with your ARCs, or did you come up with the idea yourself?

Thanks Tara! The train leaving at that moment was just one of those serendipitous things. 🙂
When my publisher and I discussed ARCs I asked if I could get a few extra copies in order to do this. The bookstores around the city do such great group events, I just want to be on their radar when they’re looking for YA authors. I kept things light and casual and actually had a pretty good time once I got into the groove. I just love book people.
