You Have Entered…The Bedtime Zone. (Now Enter to Win!!!)

“There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge… It is an area which we call…THE BEDTIME ZONE.” — (very nearly) Rod Serling

How do you know? How do you know when the fun and games are over and you’re about to step into…The Bedtime Zone? I asked the EMUS!

Andrea Wang says,”You know you’re in the bedtime zone when you start cackling like the Wicked Witch of the West and your kids start zooming around  and wreaking havoc like flying monkeys.”

giphy-5

or, “…when your kids’ argument about whether Gandalf would beat Dumbledore becomes so heated that you would personally chew off Frodo’s finger just to possess the One Ring to control them all.”

Yikes!

Janet Fox’s cues are more cozy. She knows it’s time for nighty-night, “…when I start dropping stitches in my knitting. Or knitting the wrong pattern. Always a signal.”giphy-7

Elly Swartz says, “Just before the big snooze is generally the battle between nodding off and popping awake. A battle that I undoubtedly lose.” Just like this crazy-cute duckling:giphy-4

Maybe Katie Slivensky wishes someone would just tell her when enough is enough. “I know I’m in the Bedtime Zone when even procrastinating on the internet takes more effort than I can muster.”

Take if from Tina Fey, Katie:

When Carole Gerber drops her book and  startles awake enough to turn out the light, she knows she’s done for the day. giphy-9

  1. Hayley, what a fun group you are. Bedtime must be a riot when staying over with an EMU. This is a great book–one for kids and their parents.

  4. When I’m in the bedtime zone, words that make sense in my head are not what comes out of my mouth, it is suspiciously similar to when I’m in the middle of edits 🙂

Hilarious post, Hayley! I’ve adapted to the rhythms of my night owl husband and daughter. Maybe I should join Becca and start snoozing early ;).
