Jennifer Chambliss Bertman

jenn.bertman-2001984When Jennifer was 19, she interned for YM magazine and her love affair with the publishing industry bloomed. She’s read slush for a literary agent, written copy for a regional magazine, worked in a children’s bookstore, been editor of a small literary magazine, was a production editor for a major educational publisher, taught the fundamentals of writing at a community college, and has worked as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader.

Jennifer was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She studied writing as an undergrad at UC Irvine and earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. She has three middle-grade mysteries forthcoming from Christy Ottaviano Books/Henry Holt/Macmillan, starting with Book Scavenger in 2015. She is represented by Ammi-Joan Paquette of the Erin Murphy Literary Agency.
