Tara Lazar

Tara Lazar loves trying to compose witty bios that make her sound interesting, but often fails.

Her first picture book, The Monstore (illustrated by James Burks), will be published by Aladdin/Simon & Schuster in June 2013, with I Thought This Was a Bear Book to follow in 2014. Little Red Gliding Hood releases with Random House Children’s in 2015.

She also breaks rules in the YA anthology Break These Rules, edited by Luke Reynolds and due for publication by Chicago Review Press in Fall 2013.

Her last name rhymes with “bazaar”. She’s not Tara Laser-beam (although that would be awesome).

Tara created PiBoIdMo (a.k.a. Picture Book Idea Month) which is held on her blog every November as the picture book writer’s alternative to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Hop on over to her blog for kidlit book reviews, writing tips and boogeyman extermination advice.

Tara lives in New Jersey with her husband, two daughters, and 4,892 stuffed animals. If they had a dog, it would be a tiny, white fluffy thing named Schluffy. Who would DEVOUR the stuffed animals.
